Thanksgiving!

I didn't have my fancy camera with me on thanksgiving, but I DID have plenty of fancy cooking tools and ingredients. So I decided to make Ina Garten's (Barefoot Contessa!) Pumpkin banana mousse tart, the recipe of which my friend showed me. I altered a few minor details, of course, and the results were lovely!

Happy Thanksgiving!!!!

brownies for the little bro :)

I made some yummy brownies for the little brother and the rest of the kiddies when they came to visit. I got some pretty good feedback soooo I'm happy about it :)

I was also inspired by a lovely Italian movie called "Ginger and Cinnamon", so these had a secret ingredient. Well, actually two- zenzero e cannella!

Stir Fry yumyum

I made this a while ago and just never uploaded. Stir-fried veggies with curried tempeh and watermelon for garnigh. I just wanted to add color to the dish, but the sweetness of the watermelon was actually really great with the dish!

Squashing!

I planned a nice dinner with a few friends, but ALAS none could make it. No matter, I don't need an excuse to cook or eat wonderful food :)

This dish was inspired by Bobby Flay's Butternut Squash ravioli, but of course, I did not follow the recipe exactly. I am no sheep! With my budget, the hazelnuts had to go, and I added plenty of cheese (can never have too much!) and herbs that I thought would fit. The brown butter sauce, even though it sounded delicious, had to go as well. I just can't bring myself to put two whole sticks of butter in a pan. FAT!

Making ravioli at home was a lot more work than I anticipated! After making the filling, I had to wrap each ravioli individually gahhhh

Eventually, I had a giant pile of yummy ravioli- dropped 'em in boiling water and then sauteed for a little crunch on the outside. Topped with some parm' and a couple of sage leaves for fun, and violĂ !

Starting Out :)

I thought I'd start a blog, in hopes it would inspire me to not only cook more, but cook things that are worth posting about! Get me ready for Italy...

My first will be a simple flan that I made for a friend's potluck.
I also shaved some dark chocolate (straight from Germany!) and sprinkled on top.
yummmmm
